An Exciting Week?
Well, we had an eventful week last week. We started on Monday with No School due to a Teacher Workday. A nice break for Kaylee. On Tuesday, Kaylee had to go to the dentist to have some teeth pulled. The top two on top and bottom have been very loose for several months, but for some reason have just not wanted to come out. I suspect she hasn't spent enough time wiggling them. She also has the two adult teeth on the bottom already in. She is like a shark with two rows of teeth! We got to the dentist and I had been prepping Kaylee that they might rub something on her gums to numb them or give her some shots in her gums before they pulled the teeth. The receptionist informed me that they would also be giving her laughing gas. I asked if I could be present for the procedure and was told yes, but no siblings could be there. AHH! What do I do now? I have Morgan with me! Well, I turn around and explain to Kaylee what is going to happen, she starts crying and I am still trying to figure out what to do. The hygienist comes out to get us and I look at Morgan playing with the toys in the waiting room and I say "I'll be back in a few minutes.". The receptionist said she would keep an eye on Morgan for me so I left the back pack on the chair, grabbed my purse and walked back to the room with Kaylee. She was very upset, but we got her up in the chair and started the laughing gas to try to relax her. I was thinking she would fall asleep, but I guess the laughing gas just relaxes you. Then they rubbed stuff on her gums and the dentist came in and gave her some shots. As the dentist is looking at her teeth she notices that all 4 teeth on the bottom are loose so they decide to pull 6 of them! So she lost the top 2 and all 4 on the bottom. The whole procedure took about 25 minutes and I held Kaylee's hands the whole time. We came out to the reception area and there is Morgan just playing around. The receptionist said she came up to her once and asked where her Mom was and the lady told her I was in the back with Kaylee. The receptionist asked if she would like to watch a movie and for any of you who know Morgan those are the magic words. Morgan went to the back pack and got her blankie and pacifier out and watched part of the movie and played. She was great! I'm very lucky to have a child who is not terrified to do things on her own. I would not be able to leave Kaylee in a waiting room with the receptionist watching her now, and she is 7 years old. The girls definately have two very different personalities.

On Wednesday, Kaylee went to school and Morgan and I went to the Y (our normal weekly routine). As we walked in the door the person at the front desk informed us the Miss Mary, the childcare person, was not in yet and that she would be in soon. I'm thinking to myself that on any other day, I could hang with Morgan for 10-20 minutes and wait for Miss Mary, but on Wednesdays we have a very tight schedule because Morgan goes to Physical Therapy at 10am. So, knowing my daughter as well as I do, I take her in the child care room, put on a Barney video and then tell the front desk to keep an eye out and let me know if they need me for anything. I wasn't too worried because one of the other mom's, who works at the Y, was in there with her daughter. Plus, once Morgan is watching Barney she is not going anywhere! So while I was on the treadmill, I see Miss Mary come in about 5 minutes later. Can you believe the kind of mother I am? Leaving Morgan alone two days in a row! Well, at least we will all know why she is messed up when gets older. She'll probably say things like "You were never around for me!".
We woke up Thursday morning to several inches of snow and ice! School was cancelled for the day and we were all staying home! The girls were very excited. So we put on a couple layers of clothes and boots and went outside to play. The girls had fun walking around and making footprints in the snow. We threw snowballs at each other and had a great time, until the freezing rain/sleet started up. So back into the warm house we went for tea and hot chocolate! Friday, the school's had a two hour delay to make sure all the snow and ice had melted in some of the higher elevations around here. We all enjoyed our one snow day for the year. It's been very cold for the past several weeks and as we have acclimated to the warm weather we are ready for spring! If I remember correctly, we started feeling tired of the cold about this same time last year and then it started to warm up again. We are crossing our fingers. We will be working on a couple of house projects in the next couple of weeks to prepare for our first guest from Portland! My mom will be coming out on February 7th and we are all very excited. At this moment our guest room has all of our Halloween and Christmas boxes and old clothes of the girls that need to go in the attic. Once all of that is moved to the attic, the room will be painted and then we will be buying a bed so that all our future guests will have a great place to stay. Looking forward to seeing you, Mom!
One more thing before I go, Kaylee recently asked Craig and I about setting up her own website. Not hard to believe if you know her at all. So we decided we would let her start her own blog. Here is a link to what she is up to. Keep in mind that she has learned to pull up her own pictures and types the entire blog herself. Not too shabby for a 7 year old!
Have a great week and I'll blog more later!
