Remember Us?
Well, it has been over a month since my last post. When I took over posting duties from Craig I promised myself I would be much better about updating on a regular basis. Guess that hasn't happened. Well, maybe I can add that to my list of New Year's Resolutions! We have been very, very busy since my last post, which is what I will use for my excuse for the lack of updates. We had a very nice Thanksgiving here in Greenville with Craig's parents and his sister Holly, who drove down from Cincinnati. While Holly was visiting we had the first of Kaylee's Birthday Parties. We had a smaller party on her actual Birthday of November 28th. We went to Red Robin (of course). She is 6 years old now. But sometimes she acts like she is about 15. A couple of days after her birthday, I took her and her best friend Grace to paint pottery with my mother's group. They had a really good time.
Moving into December we were gearing up for our big move into our new house. Craig and I did our first walk through on December 5th. The main problems we found were wood floor boards that needed to be replaced and some paint problems. Pretty minor stuff for having the whole house built. I think since we were here so much during construction that we caught most of the problems as they happened. A week later we did our final walk through to make sure all the problems were fixed and then we went to sign papers. It was a quite a process to sign papers. The signing was the easy part but we ended up spending several hours at the lawyers office waiting for the funds to be transferred from our lender and our bank. The lawyers would not give us the keys without these transfers so we just waited for them to happen. The good thing was that Craig was very entertaining. He had to call and get some transfer number from our bank in Portland and they started reading the number to him and it just kept going on and on which made both of us laugh so hard that we had to disconnect the phone and call back when we had calmed down. So we finally got the keys and we went back to Craig's parents house to get our paint and the girls and head over to the new house. I took the first load of paint out to the car and as I was walking back into the house, I tripped and twisted my ankle. I caught myself from actually falling which was good because I would have gone head first into a brick wall. I then sat down on the driveway in horrible pain. Luckily I had my cell phone with me so I called Craig who was sitting in the house. He says "Why are you calling me from outside?" and I say "I FELL DOWN!!!!". So he has to come out and carry me back into the house. I iced my foot and we figured out a plan B. I was no good for painting which was our big plan for the first couple of days. Craig had to go to the store to buy me a bandage for my foot and I spent the first day on crutches, afraid to put any weight on my foot. A week later after the move was over, I got worried about my foot being hurt worse then I thought so I went to the doctor. They took several x-rays of my ankle and my foot, but luckily nothing was fractured and I just have to wear a hard brace for my ankle. The dr. said it would probably take a good 6-8 weeks to heal just because you use your ankle all the time. It has been about 4 weeks now and the swelling has gone way down and it doesn't hurt too much anymore. I guess it could have been much worse.
We did spend the first few days after we got the keys painting the house. Craig went through the house and took pictures of every room before we painted. We were able to get the great room, Craig's office and the girl's bedroom painted before we moved furniture in on Friday, Dec. 15th! Craig and our friend Joe did most of the heavy moving on Friday night. Our first night in the house was Saturday the 16th. We have been loving it so far. It really turned out great and the colors that we have used for decorating are turning out just as we imagined. I was hoping to have pictures of all the rooms when I posted this, but I think I will have to update them one at a time. The rooms that I do have pictures for are the girl's bedroom, dining room and great room. The girl's bedroom has turned out even better then I imagined.
We just got some new book cases for Craig's office so once those are all set up then I can get some good pictures of the office to show. We have started to go through all the boxes that are in the garage so that Craig can start organizing his favorite space. We also bought a new bedroom set for the master which is really nice. Craig keeps saying the we are like "grown ups" now. We still need to paint the master and the master bath. I think that is it for the house right now. I'll continue to update as we decorate more rooms.
The girls are doing very good here in South Carolina. It seems like Kaylee has been on a growth spurt for the past couple of months. She just seems to keep getting taller. Morgan is doing very well. She is scooting on her bottom all over the place. This allows her to move all over the house which is good for her, however she has no concept of stairs and I have caught her several times, just about ready to tumble over. Our genetics doctor here has been talking to several different genetics doctors all over the country trying to figure out what it is that our girls have. His current idea is something called Charcot Marie-Tooth. We aren't sure this is it, but it is an idea and something we can run tests to check for. This Doctor doesn't seem happy with the "I don't know" diagnosis and we are very glad to have someone who will push and try to help us figure out what we are dealing with. I worry as the girls get older that since we don't know what they have, we don't know what to watch for. Here are some pictures of Morgan in the car while we wait to pick up Kaylee from school. She was playing with stickers and was putting them on her face! Morgan is turning into our little eater. She loves to sit with us at the table and her new favorite foods are Goldfish crackers and Chinese noodles. Here are some pictures of her eating birthday cake on Kaylee's birthday.
We had a very nice Christmas holiday. Holly and Chris both came down from Cincinnati and Holly brought her new puppy, Lucy! It was very fun. We didn't do a very good job of taking pictures on Christmas. Kaylee got a scooter from Santa that she really likes. They other item she wanted was a play kitchen. Craig and I were not too excited about spending the money on one and then we didn't know where we would put it. Well, one of my friends in my mom's group had one that she was going to give away and it was brand new. So I got it for free and we gave it to Kaylee and it is one of her favorite presents. She took all of her Christmas money and bought pots and pans and food to go in the kitchen. See, you don't always have to spend a lot of money to make them happy. :) Morgan's favorite gift was a little tiny tickle me Elmo doll that came with an Elmo Barbie that Craig bought for her. We had the traditional Adrien Christmas eve which is Chinese takeout. We went to a new restaurant near our house and it was really good. Christmas morning was very nice. Just us and the girls. We opened our Santa gifts and then stuff from us (Craig and Jill) and then we took a break and had breakfast before we opened gifts that were shipped out from my family. Then we went over to Craig's parents house and opened gifts for several more hours. There was so much stuff! It was all very nice, but overwhelming at times. Here are some pictures that were taken by Craig's brother Chris at Christmas. We had a very quiet New Year's Eve as Morgan got the flu the day before. We just stayed home and watched TV. We were very happy with her because this was her first sickness since having her surgery and she did great. She was really feeling bad for about 2 1/2 to 3 days and we were able to keep her well hydrated. What a nice feeling to not have to run to the emergency room!
Well, I think that is about it for now. See what happens when I take so long to update, I can't even remember what happened.
Have a great 2007!
