Spring Break!!!!
The Adrien Family was lucky enough to get to spend Spring Break in Orlando, FL for the second year. Of course it helps when Craig's parents have a time share there. We left South Carolina on Friday, March 21st and took a nice drive down to Yulee, FL which is just across the border from Georgia. We stayed Friday night at a very nice Holiday Inn Express and then got up on Saturday, had breakfast and spent the day at the beach. We went to Amelia Island where Craig spent time interning during college and spent the day in Fernandina Beach. We were able to walk around to some of the shops. See some pirates! Drive by Craig's old houses where he lived and then we got to drive on the beach and spend some time collecting shells and putting our feet in the Atlantic Ocean. It was pretty cold, but since I'm used to putting my toes in the Pacific Ocean in Oregon, it really wasn't that bad. Kaylee put her feet in, but Morgan wasn't too sure about it. Craig was excited to take his truck out on the sand. We left Fernandina Beach around 1pm and headed to Orlando. See if you can find the picture that told us when it was time to go (hint-Kaylee is in it)!
We met up with Craig's sister Holly at the Renaissance Hotel. We were not able to get into the condo until Sunday afternoon so we stayed with Holly on Saturday night. The hotel was very nice. The lobby was all white with very cool contemporary furniture. Sunday we had most of the day to kill before we could get into the condo so since it wasn't very warm we spent the day at the outlet mall. Mostly just window shopping but I did pick up some flip flops for going to the pool. Once we were able to get into the condo, we unpacked the car and then went to Wal-Mart to stock up on food for the week. We also got some eggs to color as it was Easter Sunday. The store was a nightmare, but it was great to have the shopping done for the week. Monday and Tuesday were cool. We tried the pool on Monday and even though it was heated, the air outside was so cold that it just wasn't fun. We spent time going to Downtown Disney, which for those of you who haven't been there, is just a bunch of Disney stores and restaurants. It was good for the girls though, because they got to get a little bit of Disney time. We had talked about not going to Disney this year as the girls are not much bigger than last year and that we thought if we spread it out a little bit it might make it more fun for all of us. We also went to Universal to go through their shops and have dinner at Margaritaville. You'll have to look for the parrot head picture. We are contemplating going to Universal as all of our favorite shows are part of Universal (Spongebob Squarepants, Jimmy Neutron, Shrek, The Simpsons and Drake and Josh).
We took the girls miniature golfing. Kaylee has some creative counting techniques. At one point she told Craig that she had a "two and a quarter of a half". Whatever that means! Probably more like a 5! Morgan was pretty good at mini golf too. She would set up her ball at the beginning, hit it, then pick it up and walk up to the hole. She would then put the ball down about an inch from the hole and tap it in. It was great. Craig and I both did pretty good with our putting. I only had to pick my ball up on a couple of holes. We spent a ton of time at the pool. Kaylee is getting so great in the water. In fact, you'll see a video where she is swimming with her face in the water without plugging her nose! Morgan loves the water. She just walks right in and loves it. We couldn't get her to put the vest on, but if we could get her to do that she would probably start swimming all over the place. I'll have to work on that over the summer. I've determined that I'm not a good swimmer. Even though I grew up with a pool in my back yard we didn't do a ton of swimming. I learned how to do front and back summersaults really well, but am a little afraid that I would break myself or some poor kid if I tried those stunts now. So my pool time was more just standing/sitting in the water and enjoying the sun (with SPF 50)!
Craig and I were able to get one evening for ourselves and we went golfing on a lit course. It was a short par 3, but this was my first golf outing since I decided to get back into the game. We had a great time together. We brought some beer and Craig had a cigar. We both played pretty good. I even had a par on one of the holes. So I was very pleased. I'm looking forward to getting out more this summer with Craig as we enjoy golfing together. We also took Kaylee to the driving range one afternoon.
Craig and Kaylee spent several mornings hanging out at the Arcade. It was great bonding time for them. They both enjoyed playing the different games. While they were at the arcade, Morgan and I spent time out walking/jogging with the jog stroller or playing at the playground.
We all had a really great time, but it was a long 10 hour drive to get home on Sunday. So, now we are all back to our normal routine. Kaylee is at school (only for 2 months), Craig is working and Morgan and I are doing all our running around. It is finally starting to warm up here in Greenville so we spent some time today weeding the front yard and adding pine straw. We use the pine straw like bark mulch. It is much easier to spread around and you buy it by the bale. I put my ferns outside that I've been keeping inside all winter. We did some research on play structures as we are planning on putting one in the back yard here in the next few weeks. We are also looking for a bed for Morgan so that we can move her out of her crib. We are actually checking out a nice set of white bunk beds that we found on Craig's list. Well, I'll try to update you on our backyard in the coming weeks.
Have a great spring and enjoy our spring break photos! Sorry, no girls gone wild.
