Hello from South Carolina!

We all made it to South Carolina in one piece. We all left Portland on August 25th. The girls and I by plane and Craig by moving truck. It took Craig and his "moving team" five days to get to South Carolina. They were very tired by the time they made it to South Carolina, but happy to be here. For those of you who missed the drama before we left here is a quick recap. Craig rented a 26ft truck to move all of our belongings to SC. He started loading the truck on Monday the 21st and we put the most important things on first (ie. Craig's Motorcycle). After the first day of loading, Craig started to worry that we would not be able to fit everything so we started a process of weeding out the items we did not have to take. We ended up giving a lot of stuff to Goodwill and taking 5 truckloads of stuff to the dump. Even with getting rid of stuff, we still had more junk than the truck would hold. On Thursday morning, the day before we left, Craig and I took the Honda Pilot to U-Haul and had a trailer hitch installed and rented a 6 x 12 ft trailer. With this additional space we were able to fit most of our stuff minus our washer and dryer, freezer and patio furniture. So when we get into our new house, I'll get to do some shopping to replace these items.
We are getting settled here as much as we can while living at Craig's parents house. All of our stuff is in a storage facility except for clothes and things that we need now. The house is coming along well. It is completly framed and roofed and all of the mechanics have been done. We just approved it to go to drywall stage which will hopefully start next week along with siding on the outside. We go by every couple of days and check on it. It's fun to walk through and imagine living in it. We were really excited to find out about the size of the backyard. We have about 50 ft behind the house which is perfect and then it goes into the area that has trees. It will be a very nice setting and Craig is already talking about putting in a screened porch and horseshoe pits.
Kaylee started school on Sept. 5th. I think she likes it, but she doesn't want to go in the morning. It has been a big adjustment meeting all new kids and learning about a big school. There are 5 Kindergarten classes in her school with approx. 125 kids. She was tested for reading last week and is reading at a third grade level. We are also planning to have her tested in math. Once we get a score for math, we will meet with the instructional counselor and decide if we should try to move her forward or keep her where she is. This will be a difficult decision, but one we will need to consider. Here are some pictures from the first day of school.
I am enjoying being a "Stay at Home Mom", although I will work on a new title as I do not like that one. Some of my new duties include updating this blog, keeping the house clean, playing with Morgan, dropping off and picking up Kaylee, taking Morgan for a walk/jog and going shopping for the house. I know this may sound easy, but it is a very taxing schedule. I am also working on design ideas for the new house. When it is complete all the walls will be white and that just won't work for the Adrien family.
Hope all is well with all of you and I will try to update this blog more often as it is one of my duties. Maybe I'll get a raise if I do a good job. :)
