Kaylee's Brush with Fame

A couple of weekends ago, Craig went on a motorcycle ride to Alabama, so I decided to take the girls to the South Carolina KidsFest. It was a fun time with lots of games for the girls. Kaylee actually participated in quite a few different games. She made three out of three baskets in a short basketball hoop. Which I thought was very impressive. She also got the opportunity to try out some gym equipment for kids. We joined a few contests and got a lot of information about things for kids in the Upstate (thats what they call this part of South Carolina). One of the booths at the KidsFest was for the kids to meet George Rogers. He is an alumni of University of South Carolina and won the Heisman Trophy in 1980. He went on to the NFL and played for the Washington Redkins when they one the SuperBowl in 1988. Kaylee got to talk to Mr. Rogers and get his autograph. She also got to hold his SuperBowl ring in her hand. Here she is sitting next to the Heisman Trophy, holding the SuperBowl ring with George next to her.

Easter and Update on Morgan

I took the girls for an Easter Egg Hunt with my Mother's Group. There was enough eggs for everyone and Kaylee is one of the oldest so it was a very successful hunt. We also tried to go to the hunt at Craig's parent's Golf Club, but we got there a few minutes late and the whole thing was over. There were only a few kids and it went really fast. It was also unseasonably cool here so people did not want to be outside. Here are the pictures from the hunt and from Easter.

Here is a quick update on how Morgan is doing. She is doing great! She got new braces and shoes a couple of months ago and has been doing a great job working with her physical therapist. We have been working very hard on standing. Last week we finally got her a stander. I won't try to explain what this is, just see the pictures. She wasn't too sure of it the first time, but she is now very possesive of her stander and even asks to stand it. She also loves standing at the easel and coloring and making food in the play kitchen. We are also working with her on cruising around furniture. She gets the concept but isn't quite ready to take off on her own. She can pull herself from sitting on a chair to standing and yesterday she was sitting on the bottom stair and pushed with her arms and stood up with out grabbing me and stood completely on her own for a couple of seconds. She has also let go of her support when standing a couple of times. She is on her way. Before we know it I will have a post to say that she is walking! I can't wait! On that note, she actually has a walker to try out for the next couple of weeks so that we can determine what kind of stander to purchase for her. She isn't too excited about it, but Kaylee and I did get her strapped into it and she took a few steps. Unfortunately after about two steps, she rests all of her weight on the chair strap and I have to tell her to stand up before she takes more steps. I'll keep you posted on her progress.

Morgan has a nice routine now. We take Kaylee to school in the morning and then we go to the YMCA so I can workout. Morgan goes to the nursery and to my dismay watches "Barney"! At least she doesn't cry when I leave her. She just sits in the TV room and watches Barney for the entire 45 minutes to and hour that we are there. Oh well, at least I get to workout! When we get home she asks to watch her favorite movie "Cars" while she gets her milk. On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, her therapists come in at 10am to work with her for an hour. Then we clean house or run errands, have lunch and get ready to go pick up Kaylee. While we wait to pick up Kaylee, I read books to Morgan. She has a few favorites and can now help read them with me. The girls usually play together in the afternoon which gives me a little time to watch Ellen or Oprah!

Morgan also has a great best friend, her sister. When I was changing her diaper the other day, Kaylee was standing next to the changing table. Morgan leaned over and gave Kaylee a hug and then said "I love you!" It was the sweetest thing ever. I can never get her to say it to me, but completely unprompted to her big sister is no problem.

Enjoy the pictures!
